Cake Smashes & First Birthday Sessions

We love a good first birthday session - especially if it includes cake!!

Tips for scheduling their first birthday session:

Book the session a few months in advance to get the desired date.
Consider editing turnaround time. Do you want the gallery back BEFORE their birthday? Make sure to schedule the session 2-4 weeks before their actual birthday.
Sneak peek images are usually shared within 48 hours of their session!

What you can expect booking a cake smash with me:

STYLE: My style is very clean with modern colors and minimal decorations to keep the focus on your child!
OUTFITS: You may bring one outfit for your child for the session but I have a full client closet full of adorable outfits for them to wear that is FREE! Let me take the task of figuring out outfits off your plate!
THEME: We can incorporate a little bit of a theme into their pictures however a good portion of the session will be without the party theme. That way you end up with pictures that will still look great 10+ years from now. Having a lot of party props takes the focus away from your child and I think the focus should be right on your cute baby!
CAKE: I suggest sticking with simple colors and a simple 'theme' for it. Again, the focus should be on your child. I have the option for parents to purchase and bring their own cake or I can order and pick up a simple white cake with white frosting from Bambinos for a small fee (I highly recommend this option!). I have plenty of cake stands for you to choose from!
SCHEDULING: I suggest scheduling their session for the time of day THEY are happiest (and not just what works for your schedule). If you want the best chances of baby smiling for their photos, picking a time they are generally awake and happy is the best route!
PROPS & BACKDROPS: I supply all the cute props and will hand-pick what I think will work best for the session. Almost all of my backdrops are solid in color and I have almost any color you can think of on hand!
IN-STUDIO OR OUTDOORS: We have the option of having their session outdoors or in my studio located in Waterloo! Both options have different feels to them and are both equally adorable!
CLEAN UP: Once baby is done smashing their cake, I do all the cleanup afterward! Usually, your baby is nice and tired and ready for a good nap (and maybe you too haha) So we collect your items and send you on your way and I take care of the rest! I even have containers to put any un-smashed cake into to send you home with!

Why I don't use characters and themes from movies and shows:

Fictional characters you see in movies or shows are all protected by copyright and you need special permission from the company to use them. Using a fictional character without permission could result in a lawsuit for copyright infringement and we don't have time for that around here.
